Next let’s click on the recently uploaded SVG and go to the bottom right hand button that says insert images and click on that.

We now have our adorable little smiley faces SVG on a new blank canvas in Design Space. WOOHOO and Congrats!

Adjusting the Size of our smiley faces for our mini planter pots

Alright so we now have the 6 smiley faces on our canvas, let us go ahead and ungroup (right side panel) or you can right click and hit ungroup.

We are now going to size these little cuties to the size of our planter pots. Yours may be a different size and that’s ok! Just measure how big you want the faces on your pots to be!

First way to resize

You can select the image and drag it out with the two arrows pointing in the opposite directions (bottom right hand corner).

Second way to resize

The second way is to head on up to the top panel and put the exact size into the size icon.

So now that your smiley faces are the size you want them we are now ready to continue on to the the make it screen. So go ahead and hit the make it icon located at the top of the right side panel. That Aqua button.

Make it

Alright so here we are previewing our one mat with the faces. Because we are working with vinyl we do not need to mirror it.

If you wanted to, you could move the faces around to where you want them on your mat. Once you are happy lets hit that continue button in the bottom right corner:)

Machine and Material

We are now on the screen where we select our machine that we are using and the material in which we are working with.

Let’s go ahead and select the machine we are using at the top. I am using my Maker. Once you select your machine then the material screen pops up.

We are now going to the select Vinyl and our cricut machine will prompt us to make sure our fine point blade is loaded and that it’s ready to start cutting.

Getting the cutting mat ready

We are now going to take our vinyl and place it on the green or blue cutting mat. Vinyl goes liner side down, material facing you!

Getting our cutting mat ready to cut these smileys. Lay your vinyl down material facing you

Loading the mat into our cricut machine

Make sure your cricut has the fine point blade and we are ready to load our mat in our machine.

The arrow light will be flashing, so lets press that and it will load the mat.

Once that is done, your cricut button will be waiting to be pressed.

Off your mat goes to be cut by this Awesome machine.

Design Space will then let you know when it is done cutting, when you get that prompt go ahead and unload your cutting mat. Peel off the vinyl.

And we are now ready to cut the off the excess material if we have any and then weed!

Weeding our cute little Smiley faces for our mini planter pots

If you used material bigger than what you cut and have extra, NOW is the time to trim off the extra material.

We are now going to take our weeding tool and get rid of what we do not need. So only the faces will be on the backing.

Our cutting machine just finished cutting the faces, now lets cut off the extra material
Now that we have cut off the extra material it is not time to weed the smiley faces.

Transfer Tape Time

Now let’s grab our transfer tape and cut a piece a bit bigger than your face.

Peel the back off- You can always keep the back because transfer tape is good for more than just one use. So if you are using a new piece, save the back because you can use it a few more times! WOOHOO!

Place your transfer tape over the smiley face, then using the scraper or card to make sure it is attached. Some call this burnish.

Now peel it off and your faces are ready to go:)

What if it didn’t stick?

Just lay it back down and take the scraper to it again! It will stick.

Applying the Vinyl Smiley Faces to the Mini Planter Pots

So your face is now on your transfer tape and is waiting on you to line her/ him up where you want, and attach to their new home (the planter pot LOL)! Their job, to make you laugh and smile and are ready!

I always tend to line it up in front first and then make sure it is exactly where I want, and then lay it down on the area.

Take your scraper and scrap or burnish it until it is transferred over to your mini planter pot. Peel the backing away slowly!
