Five am rolls in as we are in a deep sleep until something jumps up onto the bed. You can feel something walking towards you and you feel a paw on your chest! Then another paw and another until it lays down right smack dab in the middle of your chest. You hear a purring and a small paw runs across your nose. Slowly we open our eyes to find a beautiful cat purring and staring back at us! INSTANT APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE to start an amazing day!
My beautiful amazing cat Always starts my day off on the right foot with appreciation and gratitude. We both appreciate each other and this is our morning bonding time that is much needed at least for me.
What is Gratitude?
Gratitude is appreciating all that you have and focusing on the blessings in your life! It is the most important key to success and happiness because you are actually focusing on all the things you do have and are blessed for vs focusing on all that we don’t have. It forces us to pay attention to our values and what makes each day worth while. Gratitude pushes us into a positive frame of mind and connects us with our awareness which in turn gives us a choice.
NOW is the time to truly count those blessings, all those blessing such as the ones we have overlooked, taken for granted, or just forgot about. Reflexing and looking at each day to see where we could have counted those blessings and how our actions where through out the day is a HUGE help because being aware gives us the choice to take action in a great way!
Why is Gratitude so Powerful?
The Benefits of Gratitude Extend far beyond what we could imagine! Gratitude is associated with greater happiness and helps us feel positive emotions, which in returns lets us savor those good experiences longer and also improves our health and builds stronger powerful relationships!
See my friends, Energy Flows were your attention goes which means if your attention is always on the negatives or what ifs you are bringing more of that into your life. If you focus on those happy feelings like Gratitude you are saying yes I want more of this!
Research shows us that practicing Gratitude drastically improves our health and happiness.
It shifts our minds from lack to abundance and that tends to help us produce more positive thoughts and feelings. Gratitude changes us-it changes the way we think and feel and shows us a way to be happy with what we have.
Ways to build on Gratitude and Appreciation
This is one of the best ways to start and end each and every day! You can start your day by writing 3-5 things you are truly grateful for. Things like I am grateful for waking up today, I am thankful for my journey in life and all that it has shown and provided for me ,or I am grateful for being able to fill my lungs with oxygen. All of these are blessings that we usually don’t see or think about.
At night write down What went awesome that day, What you did great, What needed a bit more work, and what you got stuck on. Then write another 3-4 things you are grateful that happened today. You can reflex on the day and know where you need to start tomorrow. Again Repeating the process day after day.
Spend time in NATURE
We all know the power nature has! It can turn our moods around in no time because we are appreciating and experiencing the sights, smells, sounds, and feel of it.
It is an instant mood lifter for sure plus we are moving our body and getting the exercise we need in.
Awareness And Mindfulness
In the morning BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE we need to start with Gratitude. Feeling thankful for all that you are and have. Next we need to turn inward and listen.
What are the voices in our head doing and saying, how are we feeling, why do we feel that way, what causes us to act or react like that? These are many questions that will give us an insight to ourselves. But we need to listen.
Awareness gives us a choice because we are aware of what’s going on inside of us. We are aware of the struggles and limiting beliefs we face and awareness gives us a choice to let that conquer us or we can choose to better understand ourselves and go deeper inward to listen.
WE need to develop a deep connection with ourselves and get in touch with our soul again. Also to reconnect to who we are and how we are meant to serve others.
There is beauty and passion all around us every day but most just pass it by because they have too much to do. Embrace it and enjoy your everyday life and start noticing all those blessings around every corner.
Once in a great while I tend to skip meditating because I don’t have time, only to regret it about an hour in. Ever feel that way? Your off, your scattered brained because you didn’t take the five or ten minutes to sit down, relax, and meditate so you could shine that positive ray of light at it’s fullest?
TAKE THE TIME!!!
Minimalist for a week
This is a game changer if you can make it the week but it sure does put things in to perspective!
That car that gives you so many problems leave in the drive way or garage for a week and take public transportation. I bet the next time you get into your car and drive you will be grateful!
How about that bed you sleep in? Why not sleep on the floor for a week and the next time you sleep in your bed you will be grateful for its comfort.
What about the food you eat? Why not fast for a day and see how that food tastes the next day. I know it will be the best thing you have ever tasted.
Eliminating certain things for a short period of time really shows us what we can and should be grateful for.
Every moment is a miracle so treat it like one!
Make a Gratitude Jar
Gratitude Jars are just amazing to show your appreciation. We get to express our creativity with making the jar and each day write down 1-2 things you are grateful for.
Then at night we could read them out loud and savor it or we can just leave them in the jar and watch it fill up. I have seen others do it both ways.
This is another creative way to express gratitude. We can build a tree on our wall and each person create 6-10 things they are grateful for and tape it to the tree.
Each and every day and night reflex on the tree and what is on it and emotionalize those good feelings that come from what you wrote.
Positive sayings and Affirmations around your home
OMG I am obsessed with this one. I have went affirmation crazy!🤣😂 I always want my best self each and every day and I have to constantly remind myself and others at how awesome we are! WE have signs and saying all over our house to encourage us and life us up when we aren’t our best! If I don’t want to make a sign I take a erasable marker to a mirror and write on that!

Tell someone thank you or how much you appreciate them
I make it a point to tell at least 2-6 people a day how much I appreciate them or how I appreciate the job they did. I also tend to smile a lot and for no reason at others but it makes me feel better smiling and who knows if I made someone’s day by smiling at them.
Just a little gesture or act of kindness can COMPLETELY change someone’s day around. Lets help one another out and build each other up.
I focus on things that make me happy and put me at peace! I focus on my parents because they always bring a smile to my face and make me feel loved.
Glaring at my cat also does the trick when she does something that makes me laugh, which is quite often. I always chit chat with my honey to get his perspective, and lastly I focus on helping others!
Who can you appreciate today? How can you show them that you appreciate them? Who did an outstanding job today at your job? Who helped you out? How can you make someone’s day today?
We all go through many obstacles and issues throughout the day and it’s our job to ground ourselves, work things out with ourselves, as well as others.

When I tend to get irritated or annoyed I usually stop everything I am doing to just be and breathe. Take 3-7 deep relaxing breathes (in thru your nose; out thru your mouth) and focus inward and feel all those positive feelings and emotions that we are grateful for.
